Adenoid surgery may be indicated alone or in combination with tonsillectomy. Indications for adenoid surgery are adenoid hypertrophy causing snoring, speech abnormality, mouth breathing, sleep apnoea syndrome, recurrent rhinosinusitis, ear diseases. The surgery is done always under general anaesthesia. This surgery is performed usually along with tonsillectomy or else can be removed endoscopically with debrider and coablation. Complications of adenoidectomy includes hemorrhage, injury to eustachian tube opening, injury to pharyngeal musculature & vertebrae, nasopharyneal stenosis due to scarring.

Tongue tie (ankyloglossia) is characterised by tethering of the anterior part of the tongue to the floor of mouth by short lingual frenulum. It is usually asymptomatic but restricts tongue Mobility in the newborn and gives rise to difficulties with breastfeeding. Many parents present for treatment as they are concerned about the appearance of the tongue or about the potential for the condition to interfere with activities such as licking the lips and kissing. The condition tends to improve as the child gets older. There is no evidence to link tongue tie with speech and language disorders. If treatment is required, a simple division of the frenulum is adequate.
